From an ounce counters perspective, at 4.1 ounces for the M/L and 5 ounces for the L/XL, and 6.4 ounces for the XL/2XL there's no reason to leave this little insurance policy at home regardless of if the weatherman is lucky or right. Easily pulled out from a convenient self containing stowable pocket, the stretch ribbing around the edge will easily accommodate a full size pack and be snug enough around the frame or pack bag to keep things dry.
