Tenkara USA -Sato 10'8" - 12'9" Telescoping Fly Rod and Level Line Outfit, This is a custom outfit from AvidMax Outfitters which includes a Tenkara Sato Telescoping Rod (10'8" to 12'9"), a Tenkara Level Line - 3.5 orange, a Tenkara OKI Kebari Fly (Size 8, 3-Pack), Tenkara Line Holder, and a Tenkara USA hard rod case. The Tenkara USA Sato Rod is named after Mr. Ernest Satow, an avid mountaineer who was the first person to make a written record of tenkara. The Sato is a compact and lightweight tenkara rod. At its shorter length it is perfect for tighter streams, and at its full length it will be ideal when the stream opens up again or when you find a bigger pool to cast your fly. With several years of design experience under the belt and feedback from users, Tenkara has achieved what they set out to do: give you a rod that is super light-weight, durable, versatile and feels very precise. The Sato has two patent pending features: Triple-zoom: this allows you to use the rod at three different lengths - 10'8", 11'10", and 12'9" (330, 360, 390 cm). The average length for a tenkara rod is 12 ft long, Tenkara likes to recommend rods that are closer to 13 ft, yet many people are intimidated by such long lengths for rods intended for smaller streams. So, they felt a rod with the 3 most common lengths would be an easy choice: short to ease you into tenkara, long to give you a taste of the advantages presented by a long tenkara rod.Keep Your Plug system (patent pending): After hearing that no one has ever been able to keep their tenkara rod plug for longer than a year we decided we should find a solution for you to never lose your plug again. We designed the "Keep Your Plug" system. Next time you go fishing, remove the plug from the top end of your rod and insert it into the hole at the bottom of your rod. The Sato will come with two plugs on the rod; please leave one at home in case you ever need it. ACTION: We're phasing out the Tenkara rod index system. We have decided that we will make the best tenkara rods around and the flex of a tenkara rod is not a crucial aspect of selecting a tenkara rod. If you have been tenkara fishing for sometime and want a frame of reference, the Sato is a fast 6:4.ROD SPECIFICATIONSWeight: 2.6 oz (73.7 g)Closed length: 22.75"(57.78cm)Open lengths: 10'8"/ 11'10"/12'9" (330/360/390cm)*Handle length: 10.5"(26.7cm)Segments: 9* There may be slight discrepancies in their extended length of tenkara rodsIntroducing the best Note: all Tenkara rods come with a lifetime warranty in case of natural breakage.Tenkara Level Line anywhere: very little memory right out of the spool, the right stiffness for casting, and most importantly very high visibility. This is the preferred line used by Dr. Hisao Ishigaki, leading tenkara authority in Japan, and is developed exclusively for Tenkara USA.The smaller the number the lighter the line is. So, a 2.5 level line is lighter than the 4.5. What this translates to: The lighter the line the easier it is to keep off the water, but the more challenging it is to cast. The heavier lines will be easier to cast. Additionally, the heavier lines will pair better with the stiffer rods, so the 4.5 lines are recommended for the Yamame and Amago rods.As for the color, it is slightly based on personal preference. The orange will typically be more visible in a higher range of conditions, but the orange will stand out better against warm "orange-like" backgrounds. Further, many people have had good experiences combining the two lines for increased visibility at all times. 20 meter (65ft) spools allow you to cut 4 or 5 lines out of one spool. For example, cut one that is 12ft long and one that is 18ft for larger waters, among others. Our tenkara level line was specifically formulated for tenkara and is available exclusively through Tenkara USA and its dealers. These Ishigaki Kebari Flies (3 Pack) are the Tenkara flies used by renowned tenkara angler, and leading authority on Tenkara in Japan, Dr. Hisao Ishigaki. For the last ten years, Dr. Ishigaki has used this one Tenkara fly pattern exclusively, and has continued catching as many fish as he ever did. The Ishigaki Kebari (Ishigaki fly) fully embodies the simple spirit of Tenkara fly fishing, where more emphasis is placed on the technique of the angler, not on the gear he uses.Sold as size 12, three flies per set.The Tenkara Line Holders are great for quickly winding the line at the end of the day, or for moving from one spot to another. While the Tenkara lines come with a small plastic spool, these spools are wider and thicker, which make it much easier and quicker to wind the line around it. The notches are excellent for holding flies. The foam core helps ensure your line dries off quickly and also make it easier to secure the ends of the line. The foam core may also be used to hold a few flies in hand.
