Losing some grams isn't the only benefit of ridding the face fabric, it also increases its breathability so you're less likely to overheat or get too sweaty during some intensity due to the vapor transport as well as reducing the chilling effect that can result from a wetted out face fabric and the garment weight does not increase when riding during heavy rain. As we mentioned above, what separates this Shakedry from the standard version is its addition of Polartec Alpha insulation, renowned for its warmth to weight ratio and its ability to retain body heat. This gives the jacket a little more versatility in cooler temps without having to add additional layers. Protected by the beloved Shakedry fabric that simply beads water and virtually eliminates it from soaking in, it gets its name as a few quick shakes of the jacket render the surface dry.
