voltaic-systems-v-50-usb-lithium-ion-battery-dynamo-optimized, Sorry, no sales of Li-Ion batteries outside the U.S.The Voltaic line of USB charge batteries is one of the few on the market that have three key factors that are important in a dynamo charging bikepacking scenario. The units are designed to accept a trickle charge like you see on dynamo hubs, offer pass through charging (provides outflow from the battery at the same time the battery is being charged), and provide low-current flow with no automatic shut off (this is critical for some low-current-draw devices - like the 40mA kLite Qube). This last feature is sort of like a lo-fi uninterruptable power supply (UPS) and super rare among USB batteries. The other rare feature? It has redundant inputs - one that's micro-USB and one that's USB-C. This redundancy is super appreciated in the bikepacking vibration environment where the best of cables are laid to waste in a fairly rapid fashion from trail vibration.During the daytime, you'll want to keep the light off on your kLite so that all of the dynamo power flows into the kLite dual USB charger--and into your Voltaic battery. If any of your devices are running low, use the pass through charging feature by charging them with USB leads from the Voltaic. When night falls, flip the kLite ULTRA lamp on, unplug the Voltaic battery, and then run the charging lead from the kLite dual USB charger directly into the GPS. two charging inputs (USB-C - 5V/2A and MicroUSB -5-6V/2A)two charging outputs (USB-A x 2, 5V/2A , 3A max LED charge indicator Battery Type: Li-IonProtection: Short circuit over charge, over discharge, over temperature (35 Input Cutoff, 45 Output Cutoff), under temperature (0 Input Cutoff, -20 Output Cutoff)Minimum Charge Current: 5mA (indicators turn on at 60mA)Maximum Power Point (MPP): 5.2VAlways On Mode Battery features updated Always On technology as its standard state and will not shut off even if your device is drawing low or no power. There is no low current cutoff. To stop charging your device, double tap the Power Level Button or disconnect from the battery. To resume charging, tap the Power Level Button once. Battery recovers into Always On mode after discharge, over-temperature and under-temperature events. Power consumption in Always On mode is approximately 7mA (26mW).Specifications for the V50:11.4 x 7.8 x 2.6 cm272 gramsMax Capacity: 12,800mAh, 47 Watt HrFind the V25 and V75 here:Voltaic Systems USB Lithium Ion Batteries - Dynamo Optimized - jefe.bikeA Note on Battery CapacityThe maximum capacity listed on each battery is the sum of the capacity of the cells that are inside the outer package. There is a regulatory practice that demands that battery packagers print the maximum capacity on the product--especially true for batteries with Lithium-Ion technology. In practice, these batteries realize less than the maximum capacity. For example, the V-25 uses two 3,200mAh cells inside, yielding a maximum capacity of 6,400 mAh, which is printed on the outside of the battery. In the field, we've seen a realizable yield from the V25 of 3,200 - 3,300 mAh, slightly better than 50% of the maximum. There are a range of reasons why this is the case. First, the onboard battery management system prevents the batteries from going completely flat so that the cells are not damaged. This practice extends the life of the battery pack but limits the use of the entire battery capacity. Second, even at full capacity the internal battery cells operate at 3.7v, below the 5V output USB target, requiring a voltage boost and rectification process that introduces inefficiency into the equation. Voltaic is not being deceptive here - they are following generally accepted battery industry conventions and practices. The discrepancy between maximum capacity and realized capacity exists to varying extents in all battery packs. This is why it's important to gain experience with your gear well before you're out in the wilderness and relying on it!Looking for a battery that's waterproof / submersible?
