ProBands Tippet Retention Device | Orvis Tippet 3 Pack, Overview Pro Bands were designed to be a simple, re-usable, and problem-solving tippet band alternative for the angler. Our one-piece design fits the spool accurately and tight, and will not spin or lose memory. This ensures a tight fit for the tag end eliminating annoying tangles and loss of tippet. Pro Bands are molded from a single piece of silicone designed to be formed to fit most industry standard tippet spools on the market. The bands also offer resistance from water and sun as the mold is a tight fit shielding the tippet from the elements. Never Deal with these problems again! Elastic loses memory: When a spool of tippet is packaged and banded from the factory the band is stretched tight to the spool and forms memory. Over time as the spool of tippet is used and the diameter of the tippet recedes from using the band does not adjust to the new diameter, this causes the band to quit holding tightly to the tippet resulting in tippet coming off the spool. It happens, but not with Pro Bands, problem solved. Tippet unthreading from grommet: When the elastic band starts to lose its elasticity it will want to travel freely around the spool eventually freeing the tippet from the grommet. Threading the tippet back through the grommet can be tricky and it will happen again and again. This results in line being tangled and wrapped around your tippet T or accessories. It happens, but not with Pro Bands, problem solved. A Grommet is burred and scars tippet: If you want to lose your mind on the river just have a fish break you off because the metal grommet from the tippet band scarred your line. Pro Bands come in a few different convenient package sizes: 2 pack, 3 pack, 6 pack Pro Bands are packaged according to the tippet spool brand. Installation: Remove the rubber bands from your tippet spools and install Pro Bands onto the spools. If you stack your spools staggering the colors or choosing a certain color for a size is an easy way to identify line type. For example, I use a white Pro Band for my 4X, so I know above the white band is 5X, 6X, and 7X, below the band is 3X, 2X, and 1X (see video) https://youtu.be/FnZb1BntoRA Make sure the tag end comes out of the same side of each spool. This ensures what tippet you are grabbing when the spools are stacked. If you have had problems with spools which have the razor on them, such as the line being nicked as you pull it off. Simply make sure the line comes off the opposite side of the razor, problem solved! Stack the spools on a tippet T or carry individually, Pro Bands will work and fit better as they break in from use.
