Eat My Bubbles
Youngest swimmer to complete Hawaii’s Triple Crown Race. That’s a total of 3 miles in rough ocean water – at age 6! Eat My Bubbles. – Kelsey Gray, Kona Hawaii
Kona Island’s Triple Crown consists of three major swim races open ocean water swim over a mile long each. The first race of 2012 was the Cinco de Mayo race over 1.2 miles. Little Kelsy Gray of age 6 didn’t even plan to attend the first race, rather came to cheer along her elder siblings Kenya and Kayden, when she decided to jump in the water and race herself. Wearing a pink Tutu bikini and pink swim cap, Kelsey didn’t even stop for a break until the second buoy. The Pink cap in the picture below belongs to Kelsey, the swimmer that stole the show as the entire crowd cheered along the youngest swimmer who not only finished the race – but as you can see was no straggler.
When Kelsey hit shore it was almost as if she was surprised the race wasn’t longer. See the surprised look on her face when as coaches pointed her to the finish line.
After completing the third and final race of the triple crown, Kelsey was a well seasoned veteran. See her dash for the finish line, this time in a bit more appropriate attire – although I think we all are a bit fond of the pink tutu bikini.
